Abstract:  Guy Vaes: Photography as a Source of Writing the Town. The present paper aims at examining the (photo)graphic text and its intertextual relationships. Guy Vaes’s writing often relies upon images caught on camera. Photography is a particular text, a mirror that catches glimpses of the reality, fixes its forms and gives a meaning. In this respect, Vaes’s work, Les Cimetières de Londres, represents a patchwork of images and texts, a sort of ‘auto-graphy’, of a self-writing in which the reader becomes the witness of a wander in a town that constitutes at the same time a product of cultural memory.

Keywords: town, London, cemetery, photography, writing, space, memory.
