Abstract:  Our study sets out to highlight a less focused on aspect of Mircea Eliade’s writings, that is text poetics. Having been structured in two layers (The pictural code of the literary text – The Metatext and the intertext), this analysis is based on both reference texts belonging to the author and the network of texts from universal literature, more particularly some famous critiques within the French School. The first part analyses the relationship between text and canvas/painting, taking a closer look at those isotopies that are characteristic of the two ways of creation: such as the spiral, the sign and the painter. We also want to define the mechanism of the “mise en abyme” of these recent trends of Eliade’s texts. The second part, The Metatext and the intertext, having visited the crucial relationship between the author and the text (according to G. Genette’s definition), analyses the common meeting grounds of the Eliade text and the texts of other authors, like Heraclites, Henri James, Borges, corresponding to the so-called “seductive nostalgias” which nurture Eliade’s entire work.

Keywords: writings, intertext, poetics, sign, painting, archetype
