  Abstract:  Ce troisième roman de François-Henri Désérable représente le choix Gon-court de la Roumanie pour l’année 2017 et nous révèle un auteur qui maîtrise parfai-tement son art. Comme le titre l’indique, l’action du roman tourne autour d’un personnage mystérieux sur les traces duquel se trouve le protagoniste, un jeune homme ayant lu et relu Romain Gary. Son prétexte d’apprendre et de nous faire apprendre davantage sur un personnage épisodique de La Promesse de l’aube de Romain Gary, la « souris triste » qu’est monsieur Pie-kielny, lui permet de se lancer dans un remarquable éloge de la littérature.
