  Abstract:  Eponyms and Word-Formation Processes. Onomastics, and proper names in particular, have been the subject of study using various approaches and points of view by philosophers, anthropologists and psychologists, but much more rarely by linguists. Within the science of onomastics, the notion of distinctive traits is essential if one is to classify the entire set of phenomena.
