  Abstract:  Analysis of the Format and of the Institutional Framework in the Television Electoral Debates. The article is part of a larger comparative research which is meant to analyse the format and the institutional framework typical to the electoral debates in three conversational cultures: France, United States and Romania. This contribution refers only to the French context and analyses the electoral debate which took place in France in May 2007. The protagonists are the two presidential candidates Nicolas Sarkozy and Ségolène Royal.
