  Abstract:  Rodica Frențiu is a PhD, Reader, currently chief of the Department of Asian Studies at the Faculty of Letters at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. Her academic portfolio includes philological and linguistic studies and a number of translations from Japanese writers such as Mori Ōgai and Nagai Kafū. Also, Rodica Frențiu enjoys both national and international acknowledgement of her artistic work in the field of Japanese calligraphy, participating at numerous exhibitions in Romania as in Japan and having also published several books in this field.
