  Abstract:  The following article is the first part of a synthesis of a course for 4th year interpreting students and is meant as a contribution to the pedagogy of interpretation. While reviewing the structure and classification of memory and the physiology of the brain, we underline the specific needs of interpreters and the relevance of such cognitive theory for the profession.
