Abstract:  This study tries a different approach for the solution of the bankruptcy prediction problem. The approach is to use five financial ratios suggested by Altman, as Input to Probit and Logit analysis, to obtain an estimate for the bankruptcy risk as Output. The logistic regression (Probit and Logit) uses a sigmoid function that provides an output between 0 and 1, which can be easily interpreted as a probability of belonging to one group and is very appropriate for studies on bankruptcy. The qualitative response models used are binary probit and logit.
