The present paper proposes to analyse the tourism sector and environment in the case of Bulgaria and Romania, two countries with high potential in terms of tourism yet unexplored, comparing the two countries from the economic and social perspective. The main objective of the research is to identify the main differences between the two countries and to make recommendations for the development of the tourism sector. The results obtained should show a similarity between the two countries in terms of tourism, as well as the economic and social impact of policies on the evolution of the tourism industry.
