  Abstract:  Business process reengineering (BPR) is presently one of the key issues of successful business. Because is relatively recent in the economical medium, the reengineering is not sustained by a set of clear rules, benefiting only from a set of principles and techniques based on a series of characteristics of the process. These principles and techniques revealed themselves through the practical development of the process, so we cannot speak yet of a crystallization of them. BPR is an activity that affects all the aspects of a company, and it is neither easy nor fast to implement. Involving all the resources of a company and affecting all of them, BPR has to cope also with a series of difficulties. In this paper we present the main characteristics of the process, its main obstacles and possible ways of dealing with these obstacle.
