Abstract:  The study “General considerations concerning the rroma architecture in Transylvania” presents a less researched subject in Romania – the rroma community and the architecture practiced by their elites in post-communist period. We approach this subject analyzing and describing the rroma art, especially on Transylvanian territory. We took in consideration the interest that the Romanian society shows for this national minority and for this new artistic phenomenon. We tried to present the Romanian’s and in the same time the rroma’s reactions in front of these new buildings – “gipsy palaces”. The Romanian mass media often approached and presented the subject, but they showed more interest in the social and political impact that these new buildings have on the majority and less on the artistic or the aesthetic impact and their importance as symbolical gesture from the rroma community. We considered that the rroma art could be valorised only in the specific coordinates of the rroma community, their reality, their culture and their history. We didn’t try to establish any aesthetic criteria concerning the rroma production we just tried to present a different artistic phenomenon in contemporary Romanian society and to find some specific elements for gypsy’s art.
