  Abstract:  Profesor la Universitatea Martin Luther din Halle-Wittenberg, Wolfgang Schenkluhn este în momentul de faţă unul dintre cei mai reputaţi specialişti în istoria artei medievale, cu preocupări mai vechi privind arhitectura ordinelor religioase, concretizate în numeroase lucrări şi studii. Prima sa contribuţie importantă la cunoaşterea arhitecturii ordinelor Dominican şi Franciscan o reprezintă teza de doctorat publicată în 1985 la Berlin şi intitulată "Ordines Studentes. Aspekte zur Kirchenarchitektur der Dominikaner und Franziskaner im 13. Jahrhundert" (Ordines Studentes. Aspecte privind arhitectura bisericilor dominicane şi franciscane în secolul XIII).
