Abstract:  The archaeological investigations made in three distinct stages (1960-1971; 1988; 2005-2009) inside the Craiva site “Piatra Craivii” (Cricău, Alba County) brought to light important information for sketching the various aspects of the Dacian civilization. Location and a brief historical research: At aprox. 20 km north of Alba Iulia, on the south - east frame of the Apuseni Mountains, (subdivision Trascău) there is a limestone massif (1078 m maximum altitude) from which there is an excellent visibility of the middle basin of Mures River (Fig. 1). The 18 archaeological campaigns outlined the defining elements of this powerful center of the Dacian world. Being protected by a solid fortress, quadrilateral most probably, 67 x 36 m approx. dimensions, community’s lifestyle revealed its essential parts, generally speaking. Among the specific Dacian artifacts (pots, domestic objects, iron tools and weapons, clay, bone, glass, iron, bronze and silver spangles), the material remains of some intensive zonal and cultural contacts from a large area (specific Hellenistical, Roman, Celtic - from South and Central Europe, Germanic - from Central Europe) can be traced. Among the divers archaeological material which partly reflects the military side of this important center of the Dacian world, with no claim of using up the retrieved inventory,98 the fragments which all together once made a belt are included (starting with closing systems until various adornments).

Key-words: Craiva „Piatra Craivii”, Dacian hillfort and settlement, buckles, belt fragments, elites.
