Abstract:  The Anti-Semitic Phenomenon in the Second Half of the Nineteenth Century. The present paper aims at making a brief presentation of the anti-Jewish manifestations in the second half of the 19th century, from the beginnings to the consolidation of modern anti-Semitism and the anti-Semitic movement. From this perspective, the "Jewish Question", a core issue in the political-economic and cultural life of the Romanian Kingdom, is investigated against the background of European evolutions, in a time when Romania was striving to become part of the Old Continent’s modern nations.
