  Abstract:  The traditional good relations between the Romanian State and Vatican had begun to be called into question before the official denunciation of the Concordat, in July 1948. At the same time, premonitory signs of deep changes in the life of the two Catholic denominations of Romania - the Greek and the Roman Catholic - had also become manifest before July, in December 1948.
