Abstract:  The Huambo River flowing in the Central Andes in Peru, as the left-bank tributary of the Colca River, is one of the best examples in the world for observation of geological/geomorphological phenomena. Typical textbook standards of different types of river valleys as well as outstanding examples of interaction between a river and geology are clearly seen along the river valley due to the severe climate and poor flora.

Key words: Huambo River, geosite, river-tectonics interaction, Peruvian Andes
