Abstract:  Due to its topography and geology, Romania has a natural landscape characterized not only by richness and diversity, but also by beauty. In a time of restoring the natural balance of the world, it is more and more necessary to find methods and clear solutions to preserve special places such as earthworks. According to the Romanian Law no. 5/2000, the earthwork vestiges are declared historical monuments with exceptional national value. At the boundaries of the Southern Carpathians with the Sub-Carpathians, close to the bending zone of the Carpathians, there is an area with earthwork vestiges, e.g. the Ivăneţu Mountain. The Ivăneţ Mt. is not the object of any preservation, protection or touristic program, despite the whole region having 19 places included in the official list of historical and cultural heritage (Ordinance No. 2314/2004 of the Romanian Ministry of Culture and Religion).

Key words: heritage, earthwork vestiges, historical monument
