  Abstract:  Geoconservation can be defined according to Sharples (2002) as the conservation of the diversity of geological, geomorphological and soil features, assemblages and systems. Geoconservation seeks to prevent or minimize degradation of geodiversity in order to protect the natural and intrinsic values of bedrock, landforms and soils, rather than only to maintain their usefulness to humans.
