Abstract:  Holocene Paleoenvironmental Evolution of the Crişuri Plain (Western Romania) proved by Geoarchaeologic and Paleopedologic Evidence. This study is based mainly on the correlation established between the fossil soils identified within several archaeological sites from Crişuri Plain as well as the information that could be obtained by analyzing their content in artifacts and paleozoological remains and takes into account the validity of some consecrated points of view, almost unanimously accepted concerning the paleoenvironmental evolution of the North Western part of Romania. Some very popular “clichés” such as the supposition of the warm and pregnant humid climate during the Atlantic period, fact which determined the wide spreading of the forests or that explains the appearance of the steppe and forest-steppe elements as a result of an intense deforestation process, seems to be contested by paleopedologic and geoarchaelogic arguments that prove the existence of several periods of climatic optimum separated by paleoenvironmental crisis periods.
