Abstract:  The Role of the Relief in the Regional System Giurgeu-Ciuc. The depressionary stream of Giurgeu - Ciuc which contains the intermountain depressionary compartments with the same name, is situated in the south-west of the Oriental Carpathians. The first subunit - The Giurgeu Depression, formed along the Mures River on a distance of aprox. 75 km and width of maximum 30 km, and the second subunit - The Ciuc Depression, has aprox. 50 km in length and 12 km. in width on the Olt river, both with a north-south direction. No matter what regional criteria we use, the final goal is that any territorial unit needs a delimitation meaning the fixation of spatial limits in which it becomes relevant. The operation is more than complex, using a series of theoretical concepts and a whole arsenal of practical methods.
