Abstract:  Functional Structure of the Forests in Central Group of the Eastern Carpathians. The most important characteristic of the forests from the Central Group of the Eastern Carpathians is his functional structure. From this approach, a major part of these forests are represented by forests with protective role (44.71 %) and forests with productive and protective role (55.29 %). Between these two categories exist more or less an equilibrium. The subgroup-structure from functional point of view are represented, among the protective-role forests, mostly by water courses and soil protected forests, with social interest and scientific role one, each other with a percent of 16-29 %.
