Abstract:  The Karst of the Someşului Cald Basin (Apuseni Mountains) and its Touristic Potential. This territory, through its heights and by the density of the exokarstic and endokarstic shapes, that are to be found in the whole Someşului Cald Basin, makes up a region with an increased touristic interest, both for the karstic research, as for the very increased number of tourists who visit these places. In this respect, suffice it to mention that in the analysed territory the Altarului Cave is present which displays the richest speleothemes from the European continent. Prior to define the numerous karstic elements concentrated on a relatively limited surface (30 km2) from a touristic point of view and to form them on a hierarchical system, there must be specified the geological context of genesis in which the great richness of the exokarst in this region was formed and evolved. It is the result of the presence of some thick and well extended packages of mesozoic limestone, upon which the internal factors, as well some of the external ones have acted on a long period of time (first of all temperature and rainfalls). The analysis of these matters is closed with several proposals for the touristic turning into account in a near future.
