Abstract:  The Population Structures in the Mureşană Plain. The pointing out of the main geodemographical characteristics of the Mureş Plain requires, in order to have a general view, the surveying of the quality of the population. This is made evident by the main structure categories: sex, age groups, professions, ethnic groups and religions. The sex structure of the population, ascertained in the census records of the 1857-2002 period, reveals that, at the Mureş Plain level, there were not significant oscillations. The age groups and sex structure of the population in 1857, 1930 and 1992, at the Mureş Plain level, highlights a series of aspects related to the socio-political factor. The professional structure is made up by a geodemographical category that records substantial changes from a period to another especially as the specific of the Mureş Plain is represented by agriculture. The ethnic structure of the population clearly outlines the fact that the Romanian population always held out in absolute majority at the Mureş Plain level and the confessional structure of the population was influenced by several threshold moments: the embracing of the Greek-Catholic religion by the Romanian population; the suppression, in 1948, of the Greek Catholic Church, the complete religious freedom after December 1989.
