Abstract:  The territorial relevance of the high, secondary and technical schools from the small towns and rural settlements of the Arad county. The high, secondary and vocational schools may contribute to the quality of central place attributed to some urban or rural settlements, as they attract pupils from a definite area. Except for the city of Arad, where there are 23 such schools, polarizing a large region, there are also 17 secondary schools spread in the small towns and rural settlements of the Arad county. The most important ones are in Lipova, Ineu and Chişineu Criş towns, each having two secondary schools, while less important ones lie in Sebiş, Pâncota, Curtici and Nădlac towns. The most important high schools of the rural settlements are in Gurahonţ, Sântana and Săvârşin, covering a large rural space, while smaller ones are in Pecica, Beliu, Cermei and Miniş. The present tendency is to reduce the number of the secondary schools, and since the year 2000 the secondary schools of Chişineu Criş have merged, while the one in Miniş has been closed and the remaining classes moved to Lipova.
