Abstract:  The Dimensioning of Geographical Risks. Methodological Aspects. Generally speaking, the risk can be defined as a probable event produced in the future, whose producing could cause certain damage. This definition leads us to view the risk as a posibility to have a loss as a result of a failed operation, motivated by its intrinsic causes. Particularly, from a geographical point of view or from another point of view, the risk concept receives other significances. Geographically, the risk is to be defined as the product between the consequences and the probability of a negative evolution of the relationships established between the elements of a system taken individually or as a whole, before or in the moment of reaching a critical value.
