Abstract:   Citizenship and public participation are seen as the key to political action in modern societies. However, migration is also a new phenomenon, almost always treated as a real problem by the representants of power and the media. This article aims to analyze the concept of active citizenship from a project set up by the British Consulate, and at the same time to observe how it could be applied in the Brazilian and the Irish contexts of the new African migration.
