  Abstract:
France and Indonesia, « key countries » in their respective regions and eager to occupy an influential place in diplomacy at a global level, had to meet around a common project. French President Hollande’s State visit in 2017, the first one for more than thirty years in Indonesia, helped to speed up relations between the two states. If economy and culture remain at the centre of the bilateral stakes, maritime issues and New Caledonia constitute two singular territories for the development of relationship between the two countries.

Keywords: France, Indonesia, bilateral relations, sea, New Caledonia
