IS THERE A DEMOCRATIC DEFICIT IN THE EUROPEAN UNION? PRO AND CONTRA ARGUMENTS. Authors: GEORGIANA-IRINA UNGUREANU. |
||||||
Abstract: The democratic deficit within the European Union is a subject with a long history in the academic debate, developing lines of arguments that would have been inconceivable at its very emergence. At this very moment, there is a major rift among scholars concerning the existence of such a deficit in the Union, but the media and politicians still use it as a tool of defending the national democracies against the supranational powers the EU has acquired over time. | |||||||
