  Abstract:  Media and ethnic diversity has been a challenging topic especially in multicultural and multiethnic societies such as the United States, for example, or such as the European Union that is united in diversity, according to its own official motto. The present study focuses on the specific situation of the Roma media from Romania – outlets, broadcasting programs or online media projects all addressing a complex type of audience: the Roma communities. The case study focuses on the specific role of the media in relation with its audience (the Roma communities), on the role of the journalist (Roma or non-Roma), on the financial aspects of the Roma media including the media projects developed with the financial contribution of the European Union and so on. Finally, the study analyzes the situation of the Roma media from Romania, after 1989.
