Abstract:   Authors present the results of measurements of coordination abilities of 2256 young sportsmen attending sport classes specializing in soccer, basketball, ice-hockey, volleyball, athletics and handball. For the finding out of the level of coordination abilities, tests by Hirtz (1985) and Šimonek (2007) were used. Results have shown that sport specialization contributes to the improvement of the level of coordination abilities, which are crucial for the given sport. Authors recommend to use the created standards for the selection of talented sportsmen, as well as for the assessment of their coordination performance by coaches. Description of the tests will be sent upon request at the address: jsimonek@ukf.sk.

Key words: coordination abilities, standards of coordination performance, talented sportsmen
