Article:   THE GRAMMAR OF COMMEDIA DELL’ARTE’S. WORKING NOTES.

Authors:  FILIP ODANGIU.

  Abstract:

The text below offers some fragments from the author’s diary as a fellow actor of Ferruccio Soleri’s workshop dedicated to “Commedia dell’ arte’s masks”, organized by the National Theatre of Bucharest between 25 November and 8 December 2006. The work focused only the founding masks of commedia dell’ arte: Zannni, Pantalone, Dottore Brighella, Capitano and Zannia. Such a short time of the meeting (only two weeks) offered to the participants only the possibility to cross over the gesture grammar of the characters and a few initial stages of a usual script. But the working style and the rigor of the Italian maestro could provide a perfect example of professionalism, so useful in any type of theatre practice.

Keywords: theatre, Commedia dell’ arte, actor’s training
