Abstract:  Warlikowski: from the Skinned Theatre to the Theatre of Wandering. The author analyzes the artistic work of one of the most renowned and controversial contemporary directors, the Polish Krzysztof Warlikowski, by placing it under the sign of “the theatres of the I” (les théâtres du moi). By introducing such concepts as „skinned theatre” (théâtre écorché), „theatre of wandering” (théâtre de l’errance), “aesthetics of the archipelago” (esthétique de l’archipel), the author identifies the tensions which nurture Warlikowski’s theatre, as well as the aesthetic and philosophical constants which define the oxymoronic poetics of this great artist.

Keywords: Theatres of the I, Warlikowski, skinned theatre, theatre of wandering, theatre of divulsion, theatre of the oxymoron, the elegy of loss, aesthetics of the archipelago, art theatre
