Abstract:  My presentation will focus on the distribution patterns of soil biodiversity across the European Alpine System, with a special emphasis on the Carpathians. I will address two questions: are there biogeographical patterns for soil micro-organisms and soil mesofauna? and, are these patterns consistent with those described for macro-organisms?
