Abstract:  Considerations on Plant Communities Distributed on the North-Western Plain of Romania. The present paper is dedicated to the study of plant communities that edify the vegetation cover of the North-Western Plain of Romania. The research led to identification of four plant associations new for science: Carici paniculatae-Alnetum glutinosae, Irideto-Caricetum otrubae, Angelico-Cirsietum cani, Callitrichetum palustris, seven subassociations: Caricetum gracilis -equisetetosum palustris, Glycerietum fluitantis -alismato-eleocharietosum, Alismato-Eleocharidetum -eleocharietosum palustris, Calthetum laetae -caricetosum leporinae, Echinochloo-Polygonetum lapathifolii -chlorocyperetosum glomerati, Ceratophylletum demersi -myriophylletosum spicati, -lemnetosum minoris, new for the investigated area. Seven plant associations: Lemno-Salvinietum natantis, Lemno-Utricularietum vulgaris, Najadetum minoris, Zannichellietum pedicellatae, Hottonietum palustris, Nymphaeetum albo-luteae and Stratiotetum aloidis represent phytocoenoses with rare plant populations, most of them in peril of extinction which must become the subject of a special protection.
